A reliable way of identifying inhibitors in biogas plants



The biological processes in biogas plants are very complex and dependent on many aspects. They often run with a mixture of different substrates, like liquid manures or corn silage.



The inocreUmwelttechnik GmbH is a part of the Fritzmeier Group and opened recently its own biogas-analysis-centre.



For the first time they are going to present various services to optimize the processes in biogas plantsat the Agritechnica 2011.



The enterprisepresents batch fermentation testsas a means of determining the potential gas and methane yield of a substrate. In the course of analysis, gas production and composition are measured continuously to determine the profile over time for the gas production rate.



Batch tests are also practical to quantifyinhibitory effectsof the fermentation substrate. For example,some plant operators also utilizeanimal droppings and liquid manure containing antibiotics. The presence of antibiotics, however, can inhibit or even be fatal to microorganisms essential to gas production, and this can slow down the production process.



 


 

 

 

 

Optimal state of the fermentation biology in biogas plants

For the first time they are going to present various services to optimize the processes in biogas plantsat the Agritechnica 2011.



One test is named continuous fermentation tests. Thereforea small-scale biogas plant is operated. In a 36 l- fermenter,constant conditions can be obtained that are comparable with those in a full-scale biogas plant.



This practice-oriented process yields reliable information about substrate efficiency, and plant operators can optimize their fermentation process on the basis of the recommendations they receive from inocre.



The analyses also throw light on the effects of process accelerators, particularly fermenter additives, on gas yield. inocreUmwelttechnik examines in its test fermenters the effect of additives on gas yield for additive producers and biogas plant operators.
