EuroTier is the world's leading trade show for animal production concentrating on livestock management, health and quality – This year's event includes a special digital animal farming feature – Trade fair takes place from 13 to 16 November 2018 in Hanover

The importance of digitization for modern livestock farming will be highlighted by a special feature at EuroTier 2018, taking place from 13-16 November at Germany's Hanover Exhibition Centre. Event organizer DLG (German Agricultural Society), together with partners from industry, science and consulting, are cooperating on the feature, “Digital Animal Farming – Management. Animal health. Transparency.”, which aims to show how an increasingly digitally networked world offers farmers important new possibilities.

“New concepts around digitization can not only help bring added value to livestock farming but also help better integrate farming into dynamic rural areas and underline its position as an indispensable part of society," explained EuroTier project manager Dr. Karl Schlösser. “For example, sensors provide data that is subsequently analysed to deliver useful information that can both directly support livestock farm management and promote animal health. Ultimately, it can also provide consumers with more information about the production processes behind products offered on the supermarket shelves,” added Schlösser.

In November, exhibitors will be presenting their latest solutions in Hanover, and the DLG and its partners will be explaining the importance of these new digital technologies for today's livestock farmers.

“The special feature and associated forum events will showcase examples of digitization that promote economic efficiency and animal health, as well as transparency and quality in production processes,” added Schlösser. “These are key to the long-term success of a sustainable livestock farming sector that makes the best use of natural resources,” he continued.

Hall 26 at Hanover Exhibition Centre will be home to the Digital Animal Farming special feature, which will include digital technologies suitable for all farmed animal species. Participating exhibitors will present their latest developments in a special area, explaining how they fit into animal husbandry in the digital age. Short lectures and round-table discussions are also planned in a dedicated forum program.

Most of the world's leading suppliers of modern animal husbandry technology are expected be represented at EuroTier 2018. The DLG expects the total number of trade stands to exceed 2,500 which underscores the trade fair's importance as a platform for the livestock sector. International participation at the event will also be very high, with over half of the exhibitors expected to be based outside of Germany.
