In particular Poland is seen as a land of the future in the topic of biogas technologies. The country‘s government and investors have just recently given the green light to accelerate development in this area. Short or medium term the aim is that decentralised electricity and heat from biogas plants will take up its fair share of the basic energy provision for the population and infrastructure requirements in Poland‘s rural regions.
Whereas in Germany the sales market has already stagnated in several regions and, parallel to new investment, the highly promising area of the „repowering“ of old facilities becomes more and more important, the Eastern European countries are regarded as virgin territory for biogas applications with considerable development prospects.

Within this trade fair the IBBK Fachgruppe Biogas organises several events, including an international symposium. For this symposium we look for interesting presentations on (research) projects, plant concepts and operating plants.
The international symposium „Anaerobic Digestion of Solid Biomass and Biowaste“ takes place on Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24. Co-operation partner is the Polish Biogas Association. The symposium is financally supported by the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR) within the project 4Biomass. The Ökobit GmbH is sponsor of the symposium.
