SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTIONS, ATTENTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY FOR CONSUMERS NEW CHALLENGES AND SUCCESS FACTORS FOR ENTERPRISES

The organization of conferences is turning at high pace for the most important worldwide exhibitions for the vine and wine-growing chain. An entire pavilion will be dedicated to theme events and animations. The internationalization activity is getting stronger

Sustainable development of productions, attention to the environment, safety for consumers: these are the directions that are the guiding principles that are driving the organization of the conferences of the most important worldwide event for the whole vine and wine-growing production chain, awaited from 24 to 28 November in Milan with the 2009 edition of the trade shows SIMEI, International Enological and Bottling Equipment Exhibition, and ENOVITIS, International Vine and Olive Growing Technics Exhibition.

The conferences are intended to underline how, nowadays, the evolution of technology in general and the development of the different companies in particular, cannot be separated from a dialogue with consumers and with their own needs and requests of knowledge, transparency and guarantees with regard to production processes.

In this perspective, the meetings have been conceived and carried out by Unione Italiana Vini with Assovetro and Federlegno, that will focus on a specifications agreement concerning bottles and corks, among wineries and, respectively, glassworks and corks manufacturers, that will obviously refer to their respective trade sector Associations, proving that the production chain – suppliers and producers – are more and more inclined to mutual commitments in order to guarantee the quality of products and the safety for consumers. Among the discussed subjects, of course, there will be recycling, checking, training and some case histories. Always on the agenda, among the meetings at the exhibition, there will be a conference on “Sustainable vine-growing and enology: addresses, technologies and prospects”, organized by Unione Italiana Vini and carried out with the scientific advice of famous experts of the sector, which will be centred on wine-growing practises, the use of phytosanitary products and renewable energy sources.

As a testimony to the importance given by SIMEI and ENOVITIS to the insight and discussion with trade operators and experts on the current, possible challenges – and consequently on the possible success keys – that are proposed to the enterprises to be competitive and inning in the markets, this year an entire hall, number 11, will therefore be dedicated to theme meetings and animations. In addition, besides the Wine bar and the Oil Bar, reserved to the tasting of Italian wines and oils, there will be also some laboratories of sensorial analysis.

This a sign of liveliness and expansion of exhibitions, even more significant if we consider that SIMEI and ENOVITIS will open in a backdrop of a difficult year, which, at global level, had to face one of the most difficult, economic and financial crises since 1929. An economic situation that partially influenced SIMEI and ENOVITIS that up to today are registering a 10% decrease with regard to occupied exhibition spaces, which, however, should be recovered in the second semester showing some signs of more optimism and trust. However, the continuous validity of specialized trade exhibitions has been confirmed. Among the over 600 exhibiting companies, the attendance loyalty schemes have resulted to be very high and a survey, conducted by SIMEI and ENOVITIS interviewing several important enterprises, leaders in their own reference markets, which placed their trust in this exhibition, in spite of the recession and mostly to fight the crisis, revealed that not to miss such a consolidated event, recognized as internationally strategic, is surely a sign of a company’s good health, a message of optimism and trust to the market and towards the market.

If there is an adjective that has always qualified SIMEI is “international.” The November appointment really transforms Milan – and the fair pavilions – into a meeting point between the supply of our best “made in Italy” and the qualified demand of trade operators from all over the world.

Over 100,000 invitations have already been sent for an “Easy-access” pre-registration on the websites www.simei.it and www.enovitis.it , the functional system that will enable visitors to collect their entrance card directly at the Fair, at the self-service points, without wasting precious time at reception desks.

Once again for 2009, a co-operation agreement has been renewed between SIMEI - ENOVITIS and PROMOS, to plan the promotion campaign on several foreign markets. In the front line, this year: Romania, Turkey, Hungary, Mexico, Israel, China, India, Korea and Brazil.

Promotion will be particularly intensive towards Turkey, Korea and India, where the foreign delegations, traditionally invited as guests to visit the exhibition, should come from.

The event is expected to be visited by qualified delegations of foreign trade operators (cellar masters and technicians from wineries, private wine-producing firms, beverage manufacturing industries, etc.), organized by the same exhibitions and thanks to the co-operation of Foreign Trade Institute (ICE) of Rome. The delegations come from: Czech Republic, Georgia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Morocco, South Africa, Vietnam, California, Canada and Chile.

Finally, SIMEI and ENOVITIS have opened a representative office in Moscow, managed by Russian staff, which allows to be closer to the local trade operators and offer them a better service.

With regard to the exhibitors’ attendance, an important foreign participation is to be recorded: for the first time a delegation of Bulgarian companies will exhibit in Pavilion 13, whereas a group of French enterprises from the Champagne area will be in Pavilion 15.

Among the novelties on show, a new area will be dedicated to mobile bottling, set up in Pav. 11, which will accompany the historical exhibition always dedicated to bottling. Mobile bottling, started between the years ’70s and ’80s, turned out, over the years, to be a particularly interesting solutions for several typologies of Italian and foreign wineries, offering the possibility to take advantage of technologically advanced and sophisticated lines, without being compelled to bear the costs of their purchase and their arrangement within dedicated cellar spaces.

To touch by hand all the technological proposals, visitors have to wait until the next 24 November, but to have the first advance information, in order to organize one’s own visit in the halls of Fiera Milano in Rho in the best way, it will be enough to connect to the websites www.simei.it and www.enovitis.it , where, from this year, besides the traditional exhibitors’ catalogue, the exhibitors’ virtual stands will be presented, available in more languages and including pictures, where each company will show its own products. The virtual stands will remain active till 31 May 2011 – with possibility to introduce steady updates, so that the contact with one’s own customers will not be interrupted, while waiting for the 2011 edition of the show.
