75 years of combine harvesters in Europe
Combine harvesters make a substantial contribution to food production worldwide – virtually no other invention has had the kind of impact on world food production that this workhorse has had. The combine harvester performs an operational process which has historically demanded an enormous physical outlay in the field and on the farm: the combine travels across the field cutting the crop, threshing out the valuable grain with minmum losses, and finally collects the harvested grain in a large grain tank. It does this very quickly, and on a huge scale. This year, the European combine marks a special anniversary, its 75th year in operation.
75 Jahre Mähdrescher in Europa
Mähdrescher tragen wesentlich zur Welternährung bei. Kaum eine andere Erfindung hat die Produktion von Nahrungsmitteln auf unserem Globus so positiv beeinflusst wie diese Arbeitsmaschine. Der Mähdrescher erledigt einen Arbeitsprozess, der Jahrtausende lang mühsame Hand- und Hofarbeit erforderte: er schneidet bei der Fahrt übers Feld das Getreide ab, drischt zugleich die wertvollen Körner verlustfrei aus und sammelt sie dann in einem großen Tank. Und das in kürzester Zeit und in riesiger Menge. In diesem Jahr feiert der europäische Mähdrescher Jubiläum, er wird 75 Jahre alt.
AXION 900 – A new dimension
From 2012 the CLAAS tractor family is set to be joined by an entirely new range. CLAAS gave a sneak preview of the new AXION 900 at SIMA, the first time the machine has been showcased. With four models from 280 to 400 hp, this new high-performance range of tractors completes the current CLAAS line up and compliments the already popular and proven AXION 800 (180–260-hp) and XERION ranges (330–525-hp).

Eine neue Traktoren-Modellreihe erweitert ab 2012 die Produktfamilie der CLAAS Großtraktoren. Erstmals zur SIMA zeigt CLAAS den neuen AXION 900 als Vorpremiere. Mit vier Modellen in der Größenordnung von 280 bis 400 PS runden die leistungsstarken Maschinen das moderne CLAAS Traktorenprogramm ab und ergänzen die bereits bekannten und bewährten Baureihen AXION 800 mit 164-260 PS und XERION 3300 bis 5000 mit 330-530 PS.
CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS (CPS) and the new emissions standards
A new emissions threshold came into force on 1 January 2011 applicable to all engines with output of 130 kW and above. The threshold will extend to encompass smaller engines in a year’s time. The challenge for agricultural machinery manufacturers worldwide is to treat exhaust emissions while at the same time improving efficiency.

Für Motoren ab 130 kW Leistung gelten seit dem 1. Januar 2011 neue Abgas-Grenzwerte, bei kleineren Motoren treten diese erst ein Jahr später in Kraft. Abgasreinigung bei gleichzeitiger Effizienzsteigerung heißt die Herausforderung für Landtechnikhersteller weltweit.
CLAAS receives innovation award for forward-looking game protection research
CLAAS was officially recognised for its research into animal protection in forage harvesting at SIMA with a prestigious award. The “WILDRETTER” (“Game Guard”) project, which CLAAS is currently working on together with several partner research institutes, was awarded the innovation prize for a “sensor system designed to detect wild animals when mowing agricultural land”. The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

CLAAS bekam auf der SIMA eine Auszeichnung für Tierschutz bei der Futterernte. Das Projekt „Wildretter“, das von CLAAS gemeinsam mit einigen anderen Forschungspartnern gegenwärtig bearbeitet wird, erhielt den Innovationspreis für ein „sensortechnisches System zur Auffindung wild lebender Tiere beim Mähen landwirtschaftlicher Flächen“. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung unterstützt dieses Projekt.

The new CLAAS TERRA TRAC system for the LEXION combine harvester was awarded a silver medal at SIMA, the international agricultural technology show, held every two years in Paris The prestigious SIMA Innovation Awards are judged by an expert panel and presented to successful companies at the Show.

Honorary Professorship for Jan-Hendrik Mohr: the focus is on fostering young talent
Krasnodar/Harsewinkel. The Kuban State University of Krasnodar in Southern Russia has conferred the title of Honorary Professor on CLAAS executive board member Jan-Hendrik Mohr. According to Prof. Sergey Mikahilovich Reznichenko, Dean of the Kuban State University, the agricultural university has given the award in acknowledgement of the now twelve-year collaboration between CLAAS and the university in the areas of agricultural and farming.
Ehrenprofessur für Jan-Hendrik Mohr: Nachwuchsförderung im Mittelpunkt
Krasnodar/Harsewinkel. Die Kuban Universität Krasnodar im Süden Russlands hat dem CLAAS Konzernleitungsmitglied Jan-Hendrik Mohr den Titel eines Ehrenprofessors verliehen. Die Agraruniversität würdigt damit nach Angaben von Prof. Sergey Mikahilovich Reznichenko, Prorektor der Kuban Universität, die mittlerweile zwölfjährige Zusammenarbeit zwischen CLAAS und der Universität in den Bereichen Landwirtschaft und Landtechnik.
