The preparation for the second edition of the Russian International Field Days of the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) is in full swing

After a successful kick- off of the “International Field Days in the Volga Region” in 2015, the popular outdoor event will take place again near the Tatarian capital of Kazan from June 30 until July 2, 2016.

The exhibition is organized by the German-based trade show organizer IFWexpo Heidelberg and its Russian partner Kazanskaya Yarmarka. The event receives support from the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, which will organize a comprehensive conference program and invite official delegations and farmers from the Volga Region.

Already in 2015 as many as 150 exhibitors from Russia, Germany, Austria, Finland and France, among them well known agricultural companies such as Kuhn, Rostselmash, Gregoire Besson, KWS and Lely, presented their latest products to almost 6,300 visitors.

The organization of the event in 2016 is making good progress. The preparations on the trial fields started already in August 2015. While the sowing of winter crops was completed, the sowing of summer crops, corn, sugar beets and potatoes will follow at the end of April by the Tatarian Science and Research Institute for Agriculture. As this event is carried out in accordance with the traditional concept of DLG-Field Days, which has been successfully applied in Germany over the past 26 years, the specialists from the Tatarian Institute for Agriculture will visit the exhibition site of the DLG-Field Days in Mariaburghausen/Germany in March to exchange knowledge and experience with DLG experts in order to ensure high quality field work in Kazan.

Beside the 48 trial fields, further exhibition areas are on offer. Large farm equipment will be displayed at the stationary machinery exhibition area and in sections designated for live demonstrations. Companies offering products and services across all agricultural sectors will exhibit on the campus. Since animal husbandry and dairy farming play an important role in this region, this year's event will have a new section dedicated to livestock farming.

The second innovation will be the „Potatoland”, an exhibition area for the cultivation of potatoes and machinery used for treatment and harvesting. Tatarstan produced up to 1.5 million tons of potato in 2015, thereby, ranking second among all other regions of Russia. Potato plants, equipment and machinery for cultivation, harvesting, storage and logistics will be presented in this section. Additionally, the organizers plan a comparison of cultivation methods of early potatoes. A special highlight will be a tasting session of different potato varieties directly on the field.

Companies interested in participation can book their stand until March 31, 2016 with IFWexpo Heidelberg or Kazanskaya Yarmarka. More information at http://www.mdpp.ru/de/home/.
