The objective of this evaluation is to examine the effectiveness, efficiency and relevance of the EU legislation regarding the labelling of beef and beef products as laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1760/2000.
The evaluation will analyse the market effects of compulsory and voluntary beef labelling rules and assess consumer attitudes towards beef labels. It will also address the adequacy of current control system and examine coherence of labelling rules with other CAP measures. Finally, it will evaluate whether the EU beef labelling rules match the needs of European consumers as well as those of farmers and other operators in the beef supply chain.
