Multifunctional salon: agriculture tinted in green

Agro Napló
The third edition of EIMA M.i.A. is coming up as part of the great Bologna exposition, the salon dedicated to all the activities associated with land management and maintenance, caring for urban and suburban greenery areas. A fully furnished stage set for meetings of farmers, businesspeople and landscape professionals.

Multifunctional agriculture is one of the big issues for the 40th edition of EIMA International coming up in Bologna November 7 to 11 to present the world’s most complete and articulated review. The technologies and services behind multifunctional agriculture, in its own dedicated EIMA M.i.A. Salon, will be on display in the Four-Sided Arch area in the center of the trade fair quarters on a stage set furnished entirely in greenery. This environment will host the four theme sections into which multifunctional agriculture is divided, each identified by its own color. The green area, the biggest and featuring the largest number of activities, is focused on groundskeeping in public and private environments with special emphasis on sports grounds and new technologies for strip and vertical greenery.

Also covered in this section are snow clearance, earthmoving and mowing pasture lands. The yellow area is a true pathway through a landscape surrounding an urban area for coping with the various issues associated with the conservation the cultural heritage of the countryside, agri-tourism, teaching farms, therapeutic and social agriculture. The white area is dedicated to food production chains for taking up such sectors as olive crops and olive oil and technologies ranging from olive harvesting to pressing and the production of oil. Also handled here is the preparation of food products freshly harvested and coming up for tasting.

The water regime theme is set aside for the blue area for taking up the issues of irrigation and the maintenance of canals and ditches considered important environments because they are associated with the hydro-geographic balance in urban areas and surrounding lands and the deterioration caused by urbanization. Thus EIMA M.i.A. will not only provide a look into multifunctional agriculture but also services and provide opportunities for meetings and analyses by technical experts and businesspeople to confirm the salon as a showcase for a sector in expansion, one expected to account for a substantial share of the agricultural economy in Italy in the years to come. A sector which can count on a precise legislative framework thanks to the new text of civil code art. 2135 which acknowledges for the primary sector a capacity for generating value added and creating new opportunities.

Management of the landscape, soil conservation and maintaining environment and hydro-geological balance are, as it were, roles assigned also to agriculture where more than elsewhere work can be performed to lessen man’s impact on the environment and a host of new opportunities can arise. In substance, the EIMA M.i.A. Salon is aimed at meetings of businesspeople in agriculture, farmers, representatives from public administrations and professionals in the field of urban planning, architects and economists for collaboration for the creation of interest groups and establishing interdisciplinary dialogue of importance for the development of farming enterprises.
