Great demand among exhibitors for BioEnergy Decentral 2012

Over 650 exhibitors registered - Attractive technical programme - Worldwide forum for decentralized energy supply from 13 to 16 November 2012 in Hanover.

Exhibitors are displaying strong demand for the global forum for decentralized energy supply, the “BioEnergy Decentral” exhibition. Over 650 leading companies from 24 countries will be represented. Of these, 450 are specialist exhibitors and 200 are exhibitors with bioenergy solutions in its offering. This represents an increase of around 15 percent when compared to 2010. Project manager, Katharina Schock, reports that exhibitors will be presenting a highly comprehensive programme covering the entire range of technological developments in the field of renewable energy as well as technologies concerning decentralized energy supply.

One special hallmark of “BioEnergy Decentral” is the way it brings together the various technologies and market partners in this increasingly dynamic market. The exhibition, which will take place from 13 to 16 November 2012 at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, is being organized by DLG in close cooperation with the association of manufacturers of energy plant constructors, VDMA Power Systems, and the Association of Local Utilities (VKU). In 2010 over 42,000 expert visitors, including 6,000 from outside Germany, came to “BioEnergy Decentral” to gather information.

Expert forums

The displays by the exhibitors will be complemented by an attractive technical programme. This comprises two expert forums in which presentations on various topics will be presented every hour. Many of these forums will be held with English translation.

In the “Decentralized Energy Supply” forum the focus will be on technical and organizational solutions for decentralized electricity, gas and heat-managed energy supply and the integration of renewable energies into existing conventional installations. This will be demonstrated by examples from municipalities and by means of individual plant solutions. A special highlight on 14 November in the “Decentralized Energy Supply” forum will be a “Biomethane Day” organized by the German Energy Agency Ltd. (dena). This will examine above all questions of biomethane sales and biomethane use. There will also be a Municipal Day in the forum on 14 November at which in particular the issue of acceptance of biogas facilities in municipalities and examples of municipal bioenergy plants will be discussed. Complementing this, the German Bioenergy Association (BBE) will be organizing the “BioKommunal” event in the Convention Center (www.biokommunal.de) at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover on 14 November 2012.

In the “Technology and Service” forum the focus will be largely on technical and service-oriented topics directly linked with energy production. These include feed-in and controlling of biogas plants, digester biology, biomethane feed-in, as well as establishing short-rotation plantations and questions of the choice of substrate for biogas installations. In this connection the subject of demand-driven operation of combined heating and power plant and the accompanying questions of resilience and wear are also important.

Two focus shows (also known as “specials”) provide up-to-the-minute topics.

Special “Demand-driven Power Generation”

The Special “Demand-driven Energy Generation” provides a thematic overview of current questions concerning demand-driven energy production with biogas facilities. From forecasting, via digester control, gas storage, combined heating and power plants right through to marketing, all relevant aspects of the value chain will be on show. With the market and flexibility premium in the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG 2012), an appropriate instrument has been created for plant operators to achieve extra proceeds via market economy mechanisms. This forward-looking field will be addressed at the unique Special, as well as the technical requirements that biogas facilities need to satisfy in order to be able to generate electricity in line with demand.

Special “Heat Utilization Concepts”

The Renewable Energy Act EEG 2012 specifies mandatory use of the heat generated in electricity production by law. The Special “Heat Utilization Concepts” examines what technical options already exist today for expedient use of heat. Model process chains on the subjects of thermal heat, process heat (wood chip drying), electricity production from heat (ORC) and refrigerating from heat (cold absorption) will be on show in the demonstration area. The various approaches to utilization will be demonstrated live together with an expert commentary.

New exhibition sector “Smart Energy”

An exhibition sector on the topic of “Smart Energy” is being developed within “BioEnergy Decentral” in cooperation with the publisher “Energie & Management”. This new sector will concentrate on technologies and services used to optimize production and consumption as well as the networking of industry and trade necessary for this under the conditions of decentralized energy supply. The entire value chain – from production, via consumer control and networks, right through to the entire management of decentralized business models – will be mapped here. The relevant exhibitors with their products and services will be united in one area in this exhibition sector. A central communication area in the shape of a forum will be set up. At this interactive communication forum the various aspects of the exhibition sector will be discussed.
